He towards the end of 1584 promoted the subdivision of the so-called \u201cGarden of Saint Basil\u201d, a wide fallow field that was in the area of the ancient <a href=\"http:\/\/fori-imperiali.info\/en\/002-2\/\">Forum of Augustus<\/a> and that belonged to the Order of the Knights of Malta.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The cardinal was in fact Grand Prior of the Roman seat of the Order and could then use that land, which was divided into regular plots and rented to people, who had the faculty of edify their houses. The new houses were arranged according to a grid street system pivoted on the road that was named \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/fori-imperiali.info\/en\/006-2\/2-2\/\">Alessandrina<\/a>\u201d after the cardinal, as it was the entire neighborhood.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1629\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1629\" style=\"width: 393px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-1629\" src=\"http:\/\/fori-imperiali.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/via-alessandrina-nolli-linea.jpg\" alt=\"The \" width=\"393\" height=\"429\" srcset=\"http:\/\/fori-imperiali.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/via-alessandrina-nolli-linea.jpg 528w, http:\/\/fori-imperiali.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/via-alessandrina-nolli-linea-275x300.jpg 275w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 393px) 100vw, 393px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1629\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The &#8220;Quartiere Alessandrino&#8221; in the Plan of Rome by Giovan Battista Nolli &#8211; 1748. The red line\u00a0indicates Via Alessandrina<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Between 1924 and 1932, Via dei Fori Imperiali was opened and the neighborhood was demolished to make room for the new street and gardens. The first monastery was founded in 1263-1264 by a noblewoman named Jacoba di Pietro Bianco, with help of pope Urban IV (1261-1264), and was dedicated to the saint pope Urban I (222-230).
